Basic Capabilities/Dimensions/Finishes

  • Maximum part size: ~155mm (X and Y) ~290mm (Z)
  • Resolution: ~0.1mm (X, Y, Z)
  • Material: 100% PA12 nylon
  • Finish: Raw ("nekkid") nylon. For flat surfaces, we may be able to do color/artwork on a case-by-case basis for an extra charge. You may also use plastic paints, Cerakote, or even metal plating after you receive it

Recommended Design Parameters

  • Minimum Pin Diameter: 1.0mm
  • Minimum Hole Diameter: 1.0mm
  • Minimum Unsupported Wall Thickness: 1.0mm
  • Minimum Supported Wall Thickness: 0.6mm
  • Minimum Embossing Features:
    0.35mm depth (non-text)
    0.4mm width (non-text)
    4.5mm text font height
    0.3mm text font depth
  • Minimum Engraved Features:
    0.15mm depth (non-text)
    0.35mm width (non-text)
    3mm text font height
    0.3mm text font depth
  • Assembly clearances:
For parts printed separately -- 0.4mm
For parts printed asssembled -- 0.6mm
  • Escape holes:
For hollow features, a minimum of 2 escape holes of at least 3.5mm diameter is required to remove excess material.

Design Tips

  • Where possible, maintain uniform wall thickness. Significantly heterogenous wall thicknesses can cause warping during the cooling and finishing process.
  • Reduce stress concentrations in features by using fillets/chamfers where possible. Even radii as small as 0.5-1.0mm can help significantly.
  • Keep aspect ratios reasonable. High aspect parts can warp during cooling and finishing. Where necessary, using ribs and lofts can assist with maintaing shape on high aspect features.
  • Lattices can be helpful for reducing mass and cost. Be sure to leave gaps of at least 8.0mm in lattice structures to ensure adequate post-print processing.
